20 min | Standards and procedures outline | | We will create a process for requesting temporary signage to be produced by LG&M The timeline: - Draft policy/procedures can be hashed out through May
- The lowest demand time for graphic design interns is June - July
- Draft prototypes and templates can be put together through June
- Assessment and finalizing of design standards can be worked on through July
- Final drafts should be completed by end of July
Types of signs - Temporary informational/directional
- Info-graphic how-to posters
- Templates for need-it-now temporary signage
LEAD and LG&M will create policies and procedures document that will eventually be incorporated into LEAD signage best practices document For temporary informational/directional signage and info-graphic posters: - Request will be submitted to LG&M by LEAD staff
- Graphic design interns will create sign based on Valley library brand guidelines (based on new university guidelines with bonuses for the library)
- Files will be sent to SMS for printing (printing and mailing if SMS can't handle)
- LEAD department index will be billed for printing cost
- Finished signs will be delivered to LEAD
- LEAD staff will mount/place signage
For templates: - templates will be made by LG&M and be available to LEAD staff
- LEAD staff or other department staff will be responsible for printing and mounting the signs they make from templates
LEAD placing signage: - a central location for temporary signage supplies will be designated or locations for supplies listed
- signs should be mounted to wall with blue painter's tape
- free standing signage should be on easels (SMS can make tri-folds if we want)
- Maybe we could mount info-graphic posters with command strips?
- LEAD should keep log of temporary signage (with expiration dates!)
- LEAD will check condition/need/accuracy of signage regularly
- Original files from LG&M will be archived (cn share?)
Materials/Printing: Printing options - LG&M makes files, sent to LEAD and printed on copier, possibly laminated
- LG&M makes files, printed on copy paper by LG&M (no bigger than 11x17 size), LEAD index charged
- LG&M makes files, sent to SMS for printing or OSU printing and mailing if SMS can't do, LEAD index charged (I got a listing of SMS's prices/materials)
- Heavy paper
- Glossy paper
- Enhanced glossy paper
- Enhanced matte paper
- Posterboard
- Alligator board (dense plasticy stuff, heavy duty, should be available Julyish)
- Lamination possible (broken now, looks expensive generally)
- We will need to decide what materials to use
- If we want decals LG&M can design but they will have to be printed elsewhere
