The Telecom coordinator (Lucinda Amerman (Unlicensed) ) is the primary contact for Telecom services, both for library staff and Telecom. Requests from staff should be directed through the coordinator, so that Telecom has one point of contact to simplify the process. The page outlines many of the services the Telecom coordinator provides for library staff.

Onboarding and Offboarding

New Employees

When a new employee is hired, there are several telecom related items to set up.

  • Voice mail activation to the existing line and directory updates when needed.
  • Long Distance Code activation
  • Voice Activation if there is not an existing active phone line in the employee's work space
  • Data port activation if there isn't an active data port
  • Phone purchase/replacement if needed

Please contact the Telecom coordinator with the following information for a new employee hire

  • Phone number that their predecessor used
  • ID number of new employee
  • Name for Banner and email for tie-in
  • Location of employee's work space


Employees who are leaving

When an employee is leaving, please contact the Telecom coordinator with the employee's:

  • Name
  • Last day of work
  • ID number

This will assist the Telecom coordinator to

  • Stop the Long Distance Authorization Card
  • Update the website's employee directory
  • Update the library's phone directory
  • In some cases, disconnecting a port for that space is necessary
  • Change in Data or voice ports

Existing Employee Telecom Services

There are several services that Telecom provides. Some of these services require supervisor approval. Please contact the Telecom coordinator if you have questions.

  • Phone Repair
  • Data line repair
  • Directory updates including employee name change
  • Voicemail repair, activation, reset, and troubleshooting
  • Relocation of phone line when an employee moves to a new workspace
  • Soft phone
  • Cell phone service
  • Cell phone allowance
  • Special programming including call forwarding, call pickup groups, line bridge and more.

Submit the requests through library.maintenance@oregonstate.edu for the telecom manager in the library is currently Lucinda Amerman (Unlicensed)

Phone Manuals

Most people have Avaya J169 model (VOIP phone) or the Avaya 1408 model (digital). Below you will find guides for both of these phones. There are guides for many other models in the Telecom Box folder. If you click the link, you can access and download files from. Feel free to browse the files in that folder if you have an older phone. If you can't find what you are looking for there, let the Telecom Coordinator (Lucinda Amerman (Unlicensed) ) know. They may be able to find the manual you need.

Special Employee Benefits

OSU employees may qualify for a discount to their personal cell phone account. While you can find more information here, below is a brief outline of some of the benefits available (accuracy not guaranteed). You will need to confirm with your cell phone provider.

  • OSU employees who are Verizon subscribers may qualify for an 18% employee discount
  • OSU employees who are AT&T subscribers may qualify for a 17% employee discount
  • OSU employees who are T-Mobile/Sprint subscribers may qualify for discounts.

Troubleshooting

Below are suggested solutions for some common problems folks encounter when using their phones. If you don't see a helpful solution listed below, contact the Telecom Coordinator (Lucinda Amerman (Unlicensed) ) through library.maintenance@oregonstate.edu.

Logged out of phone

When you have accidentally logged out of your phone, you can't make calls or do anything until you log back in. The phone will ask you for the telecom manager in the library is currently Lucinda Amerman (Unlicensed) your extension and password.

  • The password should be the same as the last 5 digits of the extension. For example, if your phone number is 737-7295, you'd need to enter
    • extension: 77295
    • password: 77295
