Troubleshooting Slow Program
If the Schlage program is taking forever to bring up "Generate Program Files, " you may need to clear out some files. To do so:

First, try clearing out the files in the sync folder for the HHD.

  • Open up the desktop shortcut to "Documents on Portunus."
  • Delete all listed files with A, D, and D K in the file type name
    • NOTE: This will delete any audit information and you will permanently lose the audits.
    • For reference: "A" designates an audit file and "D" designates a door file. I don't know what "K" files need to be deleted.
Do NOT delete the following files
    • stands for.
  • The following files can be deleted if deleting just the A, D, and K file types don't fix the problem:
    • Templates
    • Capindex.ndx
    • LOCKINFO.CFG
    • Uplink.log

If you're still encountering slowness, clear out the audit files.

  • Open up SMS Express.
  • Go to Settings > Program Settings > Audits
  • Be sure to keep the number of audits to 10,000.
  • Click "Purge Now" to clear out files immediately.
    • Save purged audit to text in "OldAudits" folder.
    • The "OldAudits" folder is located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Schlage Security Management System Express\OldAudits

Missing Audit File Error Message

If you get get a error message regarding missing audit files, go ahead and delete the audit files. We do not audit the locks anymore, so it is of no concern if we delete them.

File sharing lock count exceeded error message

This can come up when the program is running slowly but it won't let you purge excess audits.

Got to this file: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Jet 4.0

  1. In the right pane of Registry Editor, double-click MaxLocksPerFile.
  2. On the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, select Decimal.
  3. Modify the value of the Value data box as required, and then select OK. (Note: make this number very high-like 1,000,000).
