What do we want?

  • What we need in hardware
    • Keyboard yay/nay
    • Card reader yay?
    • Big or small
    • Computer (PC/Mac/Linux or Android/ other)
    • One or more per floor
    • How much can we spend?
    • Intended lifespan
    • Review our options so far
    • Are we settled on what we want or do we need more research?
    • Getting a 'tester' unit before going all in?
  • IDEAL to have:
    • Keyboard for admin
    • Touch keyboard for patrons
    • No card reader now, could add later
    • 42 inch ideal, but could move down to smaller screen size to shave costs, if needed
    • Dave has a lot of mac mini's that could be re-used (and can have windows on them)
    • One per floor on the avenue
    • Wired connection where possible (see Autumn's research )
    • How much can we spend? Less than $50, probably a lot less
    • Lifespan - 5 year for display. The cases could last longer - so we might want to consider getting a stand that is not dependent on a particular screen size size
