Comment: Updated to reflect new information from MU

The companies that work on the machines will be notified, and can dispense refunds if money has been taken. For in-person visits, the MU Business Office is located inside the MU, up the main inside stairs and to the right. Individuals must complete a form in order to receive the appropriate refunds. The MU is open weekdays: 8 am-5 pm Monday-Friday.

Additionally, some of the vending machines are now equipped with a bar code scanner that scans as the item falls. The theory is, if the snack doesn’t fall, then the barcode does not get scanned and the customer is not charged. So, if a student used a bank card to get a snack or drink, please ask them to check their statement/account and be sure they were actually charged before going through any more hassle.

Important Notes

  • The MU will provide vending machine refunds for all snack and beverage machines located on the OSU campus for up to $5. Refunds are given for cash purchases only.
  • Refunds for larger amounts can be referred directly to the vendor.
  • Fun fact: some of the snack vending machines are equipped with a scanner that scans the barcode on the snack as it falls to the dispenser. If the snack does not fall, they may not ever be charged for it. Occasionally the MU will ask folks to check their bank/credit card account to be sure they were even charged for it.
