There is still no final timeline, nor has a decision been made on the type of roof replacement. However, the committee is leaning towards a full pull and replacement. Roof

Roof Replacement
This project lays a 20 year roof and base for solar/cell tower projects. Historical Review is under consideration now. Timeline is still to be determined and will depend upon the materials and direction the committee chooses. A summer timeline will be easier on operations/effect on library occupants, but we should prepare for the possibility of not starting until late fall.

Solar Panels
This project has been officially decoupled from the roof replacement. The Solar Grant Report has been submitted to Ebsco.

12/18/20 Project Updates

December 18, 2020

Roof

The roof projects that were originally grouped together have been decoupled by Campus Space Planning. This means we have 3 different roof projects upcoming:

  • Roof replacement
  • Solar Panel installation
  • Cell Tower installation

The current timeline for work to begin is summer/fall 2021 depending upon the approach that is chosen for the roof replacement. A strategy will be discussed at the next weekly campus meeting for the roof project.

Offsite Storage

The timeline for this project continues to be adjusted due to a variety of factors including:

  • Insulation failure at the Nypro building
  • Ongoing negotiations with Campus Space Planning about the deadline for knockdown of the Facilities shops.

Rachel is continuing with the procurement process for a moving contract.

SCARC

We are looking at the need to replace SCARC’s Liebert unit in the next few years and competing budget demands for capital improvements.

We are continuing to work with Johnson Controls to finalize details with the new security system controls for SCARC that were installed over the summer.

-LibCal Seats has been updated for Winter Term.
-Fire Inspection Walkthrough complete and now working to address issues in the report.

-Coordinating with Facilities to remove the security gate Gate at the main entrance of the library.

Winter term reminders

Hi everyone,

Now that we’ve made it through the first day of Winter term, I wanted to pass along a couple reminders about building protocols when we are open to the public. These are in place to keep our patrons on the 2nd floor instead of accidentally wandering other floors in the building.

Elevators

Elevators are locked down again. Remember, all elevators will take you to the 2nd floor without requiring a key.  You will not get trapped in the elevator. Although, if you don’t have a key, once the door closes, you will have to go to the 2nd floor to get off the elevator.

Stairwells

Please make sure the fire doors on floors 1-3 are kept closed at all times. The fire doors on floors 4-6 can remain open.

Study Rooms

Study rooms on first floor are available to staff and student workers to reserve through LibCal. You can reserve spaces for up to 8 hours at a time. A couple of them even have computers set up for you to use. They all have nice, comfy chairs and sanitizing supplies.

Make a reservation here

Thanks everyone. Hope everyone has a smooth start to the term. --Lucinda
