New/Press Books Move
Stakeholders: RAS (Laura Ramos), LEAD (Uta), Research & Learning (Hannah/Jane/Kelly/Robin), Press (Tom Booth)
Summary
The circulation alcove will be fully staff/service space in the next year. To prepare for this the Press and New Books collections currently housed on the shelving across from the existing circulation desk will need to find a new home. A few possibilities were discussed including the text book collection case, future shelving near where the current info desk is located, and the reading room. After discussions with Tom from the Press and Laura from RAS the location in the reading room was the option gravitated toward for displaying both collections.
This does displace items that are on display on the wall shelving in the reading room but should not disrupt the wall display. The advantage is this space makes the New and Press books more visible for browsing. Check ins with stakeholders across the library were done during October and November and it was shared out at Admin Briefing as a project for winter break. The work is scheduled over winter break and the collections will be in their new home for the start of term in January 2023.
