State of the Wayfinding Committee

  • Quick overview of original plan and wiki
  • What we have so far (Inventory and info from informal meetings)
  • Organization of and coordination (Box, wiki, slack?)
Autumn
  • Wayfinding committee picking up from previous work from a year ago
  • Previous projects located in Box folder
  • All things on old Wiki page is in the new Box folder
  • Signage inventory completed; Autumn created index organized by in use, types of signs, etc.
  • Leadership of this has changed due to vacancy in Building Manager position
  • Wayfinding committee to take over leadership on new signs, picking designs and locations, etc.
  • Proposal needs to be submitted to LAMP to change permanent signage
  • To do: usability testing to determine where visitors are looking for things, where visitors are getting lost
  • To do: figure out if we design in house or if we consult with external firm for designs

    • reach out to other libraries regarding how they addressed their space issue re: funding
    • Kaitlin volunteered to help with grant writing
    • Autumn to work with LEAD to gather resources for investigation
    • Address low hanging fruit first - bad signs, sticky notes, etc.
  • Three major forces - admin/LAMP, building manager and LEAD, and Dan Moret for marketing/approval
  • Questions that we want to answer with data, and ideas to collect data.
    • What are the experiences of other libraries that can help us?

      • Information in LibAnalytics. All questions at the reference desk are recorded there for one week each month.
