SA@OSU conversation about two of Michael’s projects and their transition

Michael and Kenna B. can give an overview and we can have a discussion.

Beaver Articles:

• Detailed procedures are in place should you wish to continue this article request and deposit service. 

• We investigated the use of the Open Alex API in lieu of Web of Science as the dataset for OSU articles that could be requested. This may be something we could do in the future with some developer assistance. Open Alex appears to be a more comprehensive database that would include articles in LIS, Education, and other journals that aren’t indexed in Web of Science.

• We currently restrict requests to: 

  • Articles indexed in Web of Science

  • Articles in which an OSU or OSU-Cascades (indexed as separate institution affiliations in WoS) author is an author

    • We then conduct a manual process to determine if an OSU author is the corresponding author as Web of Science does not provide a corresponding author filter

  • Articles that are not already OA in any way (Bronze, Green, Gold, Hybrid)

    • This is also manual as the Web of Science OA filters have proven ineffective

Open Climate Campaign:

• Kenna B. and Michael can finish requesting and depositing articles before I leave.

• Michael can report on this to LAMP before, during, and/or after completion. 

• Draft request and article deposit Procedures are very similar to Beaver Articles procedures.
