Map update notes by floor

In meeting (Uta, Lucinda, Laura, Rachel, Rox, Robin)

Reviewing printouts of map changes by team, meeting with graphic designers for updated maps.

Misc. notes for all floors

  • Directory maps having office numbers/staff area numbers?

  • Consistency in text sizing and font usage

  • Label all mechanical spaces on floors, see Lucinda for clarity on this (she’ll respond to where mechanical closets are and their room numbers on all floors)

  • Center text on large areas of same content

  • Make all study areas the same pink, textured pink for color blindness…. must translate into black and white

First Floor

  • Room 1563: Lactation Room

  • Oversized books to the right of R’s (highlighted in notes as pink), make R boxes into one large

  • Add lockers

  • 1 “closed for improvements” box, instead of 3

  • Eco to go container location?

Second Floor

  • Fire extinguisher in 2019 moved to outside of Media Hub

  • Add fire extinguisher above Circ elevator

  • Borrowing & Information Desk

-Emergency exit between Autzen and 2750 has a fire extinguisher in it

  • Book drop has moved into front entrance corner

  • Self check moving to new wall location

  • Non-ONID computers will be new printing station

  • Extend Learning Commons pink shading into new printing station

  • Learning Commons pink shading where information desk was, but leave opening before offices at 2064

  • Printing station is now non-onid computers

  • Scanner is moving by printers

  • Copier stays in current location

  • Removing phone symbol in Nishihara

  • Nishihara Classroom goes to “The Nishihara Family Classroom”

  • Nonpublic spaces extended to internal wall from avenue by Borrowing and Information Desk

  • Fire extinguisher should be between 2064 and 2066 rather than right off the avenue

  • Remove first aid kit outside of 2064

Third Floor

  • Microform computer is on the outside of bathroom wall

  • Student parent study room inste

  • R&L will be Research and Learning

  • Eliminate redundancy in RAS

  • remove RAS departments (can be put in description rather than on map itself), remove: acquistioins, interlibrary loan, summit, collection maintenance, cataloging

  • Atlases are also located on back wall behind elevators and between elevators and archives

Fourth Floor

  • 4562 and 4564 Studios (ecampus studios)

  • Remove 4167 (it is a closet)

  • 4084 (is a closet) it has larger font sizing

  • Removing oversize on 4th floor outside of elevators

  • P-PR connect boxes (make the 2 boxes into 1)

  • PR-PZ connect boxes (make 3 boxes into 1)

  • *PR-PZ fire extinguisher will need verification of where it is located, double check w/Lucinda, it should be located outside of the rotunda instead

  • 4960 Drinkward should be centered

  • Drinkward does only has 2 doors (remove center door)

Fifth Floor

  • only aesthetic consistency changes on this floor

Sixth Floor

  • Adding Folio collection outisde of Oversize

  • U-Z section is now U-Z, A

  • Smaller box for A section

  • G, F, E sections will be changing

  • Combine D & D-E boxes

  • Do we want RAS description so detailed?

  • Change R&L to Research and Learning (R&L)

  • Add LEAD as a dept. to 2nd floor - noted in list below

 

Next Steps

  • Rachel/Uta and Laura mark up maps with changes related to Combo desk and Stacks

  • Lucinda scans in maps for group to review

  • Uta get access to brochure folder or final working file to Robin (from Teresa - Media Hub)

  • Next meeting? for group to review - July 27th 2p

 

Future Steps

  • Graphics will update maps and work on brochure

  • Finalized maps handed off to LIT for website update.

Beginning a list of updates for the next cycle. No action should be taken at this time other than to compile a list of needed updates when we begin to discuss this over the summer.

  • 2nd LC Copiers/Scanners moved

  • Our Little Village now Student Parent Study Room

  • Lucy Lewis Conference room moved to 4802

  • Label lactation room with name, not just room number

  • 2nd LC Public Computer move (Non-ONID computers)

  • 2nd LC locker move

  • ADA Locker locations?

  • 2nd - no public phone in Nishihara entryway

  • 3rd floor - microform machine location corrected

  • 2nd LEAD combined service desk (designate as “Borrowing & Information”)

  • 6th Floor - Folio collection next to Oversize - Folios located closest to study rooms

  • 6th floor - Stacks - U-Z, A next to Oversize

  • 1st floor - Oversize collection should span entire length of study rooms

  • 3rd floor - Atlases label need to be added behind avenue elevator

  • 4th floor - Oversize label next to avenue elevator needs to be removed

  • 2nd - remove Info Desk

  • 2nd - remove Circulation Desk -

  • 2nd - New/Press books moved to Reading Room

  • 2nd Library Experience & Access Dept (LEAD) - add

  • 4th - Library Administration - add

  • 4th - Library Information Technology (LIT) add

  • “You are here” star for directory version of the map (by the elevators)
