Quick Update
Roof Projects
Roof Replacement
Roof project has been delayed until Summer 2023. The intention was originally to complete this in Summer 2022 and though the project was out to bid campus is holding the project. There is still information coming in but it seems this change was due to a few reasons including the campus capital project budget, and overlap with multiple projects creating concerns. I have requested with this delay leak testing be performed to put in targeted patches in the most needed areas over the archives.
Solar
With this delay it does mean solar will also be delayed and an extension asked for on the Ebsco grant. I am working with Brandon Trelstad to get this in place this month.
Liebert
The Liebert unit in the archive is still on target to be replaced Spring/Summer of 2022. Three contractors have quoted the project and it looking to fall in the $80,000 range. Facilities has agreed to pay for this project.
Antennas
The ATT project is still planned for Spring of 2022 though the start date is not fully determined yet there is potentially crane work to move equipment to the roof over Spring Break.
First Floor
Lucinda worked with student crew to prep the first floor for reopening and finished up just the Monday following Thanksgiving. Signage was swapped out, the last of the surplus along the western wall was removed, and furniture being stored was relocated to the northern half of the floor which is still closed for the academic year.
Study Rooms
Lucinda has had a study room survey out to gather input form our students on study room usage and preferences. She also continues to work on lock replacement for those that are failing.
Cubicle Planning
I am walking through with the Office World vendor to consider some cubicle modifications in the 3rd floor workroom and some support for the studio spaces. Expect this visit Thursday afternoon.
Telecom
Lucinda has been following up on telecom work including replacing the outdated phones in the building, updating the phone directories, and phone circles for circulation and RAS.
Upcoming and Winter Intercession Projects
Card Catalog Room
The Card Catalog room in the 3rd floor work room has been cleaned up and is all ready for use for small meetings.
Offices
The following changes are coming to the hoteling offices:
- Hoteling offices will transition to hourly reservations for winter term, this was the highest need rather than day long reservations. Other than this, reservations are still made in the LibCal system and using the QR code posted on the door.
- TED Librarians are returning to various degrees for Winter Term meaning hoteling in these spaces may only be available on certain days.
- Vance will move into 3755 (the small meeting room on the 3rd floor) which will be converted to an office for him until the need passes.
- Richard will relocate to an office on the 4th floor until the need passes.
Art Cleaning and Inventory
This project has been intermittent as able over the last two years. Will continue working on cleaning art, assessing preservation needs, and mapping out movement for the collection scheduled for Summer 2022.
Art Department Support
The art cases on 3rd have no current access, Rachel is working on them to get access figured out, There will be a tour of the art collection for some members of the Arts Complex and Arts Department team over Winter intercession.
Compact Shelving on 3rd
Spacesavers is scheduled to perform work transferring shelving sheets from interior storage compact on 3rd to exterior where the atlases were previously stored. This will give additional secure storage in the shelving for SCARC materials and supplies. Spacesavers will also perform additional service as need to compact shelving on 1st and on 5th floors.
